UCR (Unified Carrier Registration)
Annual. Registration for the next year opens October 1; register and pay before January 1 (Dec 31 is the last compliant day). The 2027 portal opened Oct 1, 2026.
Form 2290 (Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax)
Tax period runs July 1 - June 30. Due by the last day of the month after the month the vehicle is first used in the period. For vehicles in use in July: due August 31.
MCS-150 Biennial Update
Every 24 months, by the last day of the month set by the last digit of your USDOT# (1=Jan ... 9=Sep, 0=Oct). Next-to-last digit odd = file in odd years; even = even years. Required even if nothing changed. It's free.
IFTA Quarterly Returns

Warning: fake MCS-150 / "FMCSA" letters and emails
Scammers send official-looking letters and emails demanding fees, or your PIN, SSN, EIN, or bank info, to "update" your MCS-150. The MCS-150 update is free from FMCSA. FMCSA does not ask for that info in unsolicited messages. Verify at FMCSA Fraud Alerts and FMCSA phishing alert, or call 1-800-832-5660.
